1.   FCCLA with Paw Protectors will be HOLDING an “OLD T-SHIRT DRIVE”.  BRING IN all the old t-shirts you have stuffed in the back of your closets to Mrs. Jarzab’s ROOM THRU NEXT WEEK FRIDAY (2/26).  The shirts will be made into dog toys and donated to Barely Used Pets in Urbana.  Let’s give these dogs something to love!  

2.   SOFTBALL TRYOUTS/PRACTICES will START NEXT WEEK on MONDAY (2/22) AFTER SCHOOL from 4:00 to 6:00 in the AUX GYM.  PLAYERS need to have their PHYSICALS TURNED IN to the ATHLETIC OFFICE BEFORE TRYOUTS/PRACTICES BEGIN.       

3.   The “COLOR OF THE DAY” in SUPPORT of HEALTHY LIVING is:  Monday (2/22) YELLOW and Tuesday (2/23) RED.  TODAY’S COLOR is BROWN:  Brown foods are high in vitamins V and D and help prevent cancer, high blood pressure and weight gain.    

4.   DON’T FORGET the NEXT SMD BLOOD DRIVE will be HELD Friday, March 4.  FORMS are DUE TODAY (2/19) to Miss Heitman.

5.   FUN FOOD FACTS:  Bring home the bacon! Or not?  Bacon has a lot of fat – the bad kind.  68 percent of bacon’s calories are fat.  On top of that, bacon typically goes through a curing process, where the meat is soaked in a solution of salt, nitrates, spice and sometimes sugar, which isn’t good for you.

6.   The ASVAB (Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery) Assessment will be GIVEN Tuesday MORNING, March 1, at 7:45 in the MEDIA CENTER.  The assessment will last approximately 3 hours.  ANY SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR or SENIOR that would like to PARTICIPATE needs to SIGN UP in the GUIDANCE OFFICE.

7.   There is INFORMATION in the GUIDANCE OFFICE REGARDING a SUMMER JOB at Bruns Construction Enterprises.

8.   CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS will be HELD the WEEK of March 7-11.  PICK UP an INFORMATION PACKET in Mrs. Compton’s OFFICE.

9.   ATTENTION SENIORS:  The YEARBOOK STAFF NEEDS your SENIOR PICTURE and a BABY PICTURE ASAP!!  REMEMBER to put your NAME on the BACK of your PICTURES and GIVE your PICTURES to Mrs. Merritt or a YEARBOOK STAFF MEMBER.

10. The following SCHOLARSHIPS are AVAILABLE in the GUIDANCE OFFICE:  The International Harvester Employee Credit Union Scholarship  and the Graham Elementary PTO Scholarship. 

11. INFORMATION is AVAILABLE in the GUIDANCE OFFICE for an ACT PREP CLASS HELD on the EDISON COMMUNITY COLLEGE CAMPUS.

12. BASEBALL PRACTICE/TRYOUTS BEGIN NEXT WEEK on Monday (2/22) EVENING.  SENIORS and JUNIORS will PRACTICE/TRYOUT from 5:30 to 7:00 and SOPHOMORES and FRESHMEN will PRACTICE/TRYOUT from 7:00 to 8:30.

13. STOP by the GUIDANCE OFFICE and PICK UP PAPERWORK if you SIGNED UP as having an INTEREST in SUMMER PE.
